In PDHPE theory, Year 9X students have been engaged in Project-Based Learning (PBL) on the topic of food choice. This topic encompasses influences on food choices, strategies for healthy food selection and discussion about diet, physical activity and health. Working in groups of six, students have been using Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats to prompt them to consider the topic from a range of perspectives, as outlined in the diagram below. The students had fun making their thinking hats – see the photos below – and have swapped hats regularly in order to engage in the six different types of thinking. The task will culminate in creative presentations delivered by the students in Week 8.
